At Palermo Orthodontics, you’ll get to know Dr. Nghe Luu and Dr. Pourang Rahimi–two certified orthodontic specialists whose stories, skills, and families are deeply connected to the communities they serve.
Dr. Luu grew up, attended school, and lives in Hamilton. After practising orthodontics in Alberta for nearly a decade, he returned home to Ontario and joined Palermo Orthodontics in 2020. Outside the office, he’s a technology enthusiast, hot yoga devotee, and keen investor. While he doesn’t have any pets at home, he’s developed a unique friendship with a local family of snapping turtles, who eagerly await their apple and watermelon treats.
Dr. Rahimi grew up in Montreal, now lives in Oakville with his wife, Dr. Afsoon Fathollahzadeh, a pediatrician, and together, they have two children, Rebecca and Darian. Along with English, he’s fluent in French and Persian, and speaks some Spanish and Italian. So don’t be surprised if your appointment starts with “Il me ferait grand plaisir de vous parler en français!” When not at work, Dr. Rahimi cherishes the time spent with his family and he is an avid golfer.
The commitment to personal care extends across the entire Palermo Orthodontics team. Our entire team has a well-earned reputation for continuity. Many of our staff are lifelong members of the Palermo Orthodontics “family,” so we’re proud to say that you’ll see the same friendly faces at each visit. You won’t have to explain yourself again at every appointment or wonder who will be caring for you next.
Dr. Rahimi has a longstanding career over the past few decades transforming thousands of smiles throughout Hamilton, Oakville, and nearby communities. In 2014, he opened the doors to our location in the Palermo neighborhood of Oakville, followed by a second location in 2017 on Hamilton Mountain.
Dr. Luu began his orthodontic journey out west, practicing for nearly a decade in Alberta before returning home to Ontario and joining Palermo Orthodontics in 2020.
Recognizing how well their strengths and values worked together, Dr. Luu and Dr. Rahimi became official partners in 2023 and began leading Palermo Orthodontics into its next chapter.

Dr. Luu’s path to orthodontics began with a love for all aspects of dentistry. Witnessing the profound impact a transformed smile had on a child’s confidence, and the ripple it created among families, sparked his true calling: “Transforming smiles transforms lives. No other branch of dentistry lets us change the course of someone’s future so deeply.”
For Dr. Rahimi, orthodontics is personal: “Growing up, I was the kid with the big overbite and bucky teeth. While it didn’t bother me much, I watched friends struggle with similar challenges. When my orthodontic treatment was finished, I was proud, happy, and more confident. I knew I wanted to give that same gift to others. A confident smile changes everything and being able to share that joy is why I love what I do.”

Dr. Luu was gifted an early computer before most homes had the internet and tinkering with technology has afforded him unique insights into leveraging it to make treatment more precise and efficient. His favorite subject in high school was physics and this has helped him understand the force systems involved with moving teeth. His formal training in Life Sciences, Dentistry, and a Masters in Medical Sciences in Orthodontics ensures that his care is safe and evidence-based. Meanwhile, childhood hours spent drawing sharpened his eye for esthetics, blending artistry into every smile.
Dr. Rahimi’s childhood obsession with intricate model kits, be it planes, cars, or ships, constructed and painted to perfection, helped him develop manual dexterity and attention to detail, core skills he brings to every patient. Trained in Dentistry at McGill University and Orthodontics at Boston University, he was taught that great results come from combining research-driven science with a true artist’s commitment to excellence: “To me, once a patient decides to pursue treatment in our office, they become family; I will work to the best of my ability to give them the best result possible.”
